Inside Our Brands

Arriving at GWF

Our aim is to ensure our people can hit the ground running – so we provide a company and site specific induction with a focus on understanding GWF’s business, culture and values as well as our key priority – safety.

Our Culture

We offer a broad range of career expansion opportunities across our diverse businesses including role changes and promotions, special assignments, secondments and project work. We also offer international opportunities through our UK parent company Associated British Foods plc. We actively work with our people to understand what drives their career and we empower them to drive their development.

We share information and insights to help our people understand our company strategy and performance. We encourage two-way communication, with lots of opportunities to provide regular feedback and share ideas about making GWF a better place to work eg team briefings, people surveys and ‘town halls’.

It is important we plan for the future of our business by managing succession and identifying emerging talent. We aim to have open and transparent conversations with our people to allow them to develop and manage their career aspirations. We look for challenging experiences and development which can increase their overall capability and meet the needs of our business.

We support leaders to grow and develop by offering coaching and mentoring programs to build leadership capability, assessment and feedback using the LifeStyle Inventory (LSI) and Hogan tools, and leadership conferences. Our operating model relies on our leaders building strong, diversified networks throughout the ABF and GWF businesses.

We believe in equipping people with core skills, knowledge and tools to be successful in their role. This includes development in competencies, behaviours, technical & functional skills and leadership; and development opportunities such as on-the-job experiences, coaching and training. We believe most development occurs on the job, however GWF subsidises the cost of external studies for approved courses as well as study leave.

We believe in the value of an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects our diverse customers, consumers and communities. Inclusion unlocks the power of our diverse teams enabling us to better understand and serve customers, attract top talent and innovate successfully.  We aim to provide a positive barrier-free recruitment process and supportive workplace where everyone can be their best. If you are applying for a role and require workplace adjustments due to a disability please let us know.  GWF is proud to be a gold member of the Australian Network on Disability.

We are an active supporter of the communities in which we operate, as well as encouraging our people to become involved in community giving. GWF shares expertise, skills and resources and creates partnerships which have a positive impact on our wider communities including, a major partnership with Foodbank and support for KidsCan in New Zealand.

We act like we are owners of the business

We believe our unique way of working is the source of our success, giving our people the freedom to operate as business ‘owners’, making decisions close to the customer whilst providing performance challenge and stretch.

Paul Foster, Chief Executive

We are on a journey to transform our safety culture and continuously improve our safety performance. GWF is striving to move beyond the performance limitations of a ‘compliance’ culture to a more sustainable and high performance ‘commitment’ based safety culture driven by engaged leaders at all levels.
